Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Cavities and gum disease can still develop in the hidden parts of your mouth even if you’re brushing and flossing regularly at home. It’s important to have a dental checkup every six months so that Dr. Bragg can evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, and other aspects of your oral health. Accumulations of plaque and tartar will be gently removed, and we can schedule additional treatments if we find indications of serious oral health issues.

Fluoride Treatment

Do you know why most brands of toothpaste contain fluoride? Simply put, fluoride is a natural mineral proven to be beneficial to oral health. Regular exposure to fluoride leads to stronger tooth enamel that is more resistant to decay. You likely get plenty of fluoride just by brushing your teeth, but we can give your smile a little boost with the help of a professional fluoride treatment. We may recommend this for patients whose teeth could benefit from additional protection.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are highly recommended for younger children who just got their first or second molars. It can be difficult to clean the molars since they have very uneven surfaces and are located near the back of the mouth, so sealants can be applied to the at-risk area until the child has gotten better at maneuvering their toothbrush. A thin protective layer will be used to block out food particles, bacteria, and any other harmful substances.

Custom Nightguards for Grinding

Teeth grinding can cause chronic jaw pain and worn-down enamel, but since it often takes place while you’re asleep, it can be very difficult to stop it. A nightguard can be used to prevent direct contact between the upper and lower rows of teeth; that way, even if you continue to clench and grind at night, your smile won’t be harmed. Each nightguard is fully personalized; yours will be made to fit perfectly on your teeth and gums.

Oral Cancer Screening

In the United States, over 9,750 people die of oral cancer every year; that comes out to an average of one person every hour. Diagnosing and treating this disease early is extremely important if you want a more optimistic 5-year prognosis, which is why we make oral cancer screenings an important part of the preventive care we provide. We can scan the mouth for discolored patches of tissue, suspicious sores, and other warning signs of cancer during your regular checkups.
